Work experience for students
Our students gain valuable knowledge about their chosen industries, get experience of real-world professional environments, develop vital teamwork skills, and build their network of work contacts for the future. This helps them to build their confidence, enhance their CV and demonstrate their skills to future employers.Â

Work experience placements – What employers need to know
- Placements can be one or two days per week and/or two block weeks. The placement should include meaningful learning which improves the student’s skills or experience to help in their future career. Plan tasks to involve the student and include them in appropriate day-to-day activities.Â
- Employers fill in a Health & Safety agreement and Risk Assessment form and provide details of Employers and Public Liability Insurance. You’ll also need to complete some additional paperwork on our online platform, Grofar. All paperwork is delivered online, so it’s a good idea to check your junk folder.Â
- Please keep track of your student’s attendance and inform us if there are any problems. Once your student has finished their work experience, we’ll ask you to verify their WEx hours. We’ll also ask you for feedback we use for their personal and professional development. Â
