Inclusive facilities at Totton College

Students within our Skills for Life department have dedicated spaces within their hub.  Each hub within Skills for Life has their own communal space, access to sensory and quiet spaces, and access to outside spaces to help support independence and personal development.

Communal spaces

Large dedicated social spaces are provided for students to use during break and lunch times. They spaces provide students a safe place to interact with peers and to help and develop their social skills.

Sensory spaces

The college has two spaces where students can seek time out to help them self-regulate throughout the college day. The rooms all have soft beanbags, dimmable lighting and a variety of sensory items and activities.

Quiet rooms

Quiet spaces are available for students to use if needed. They offer a calm and safe space to help students self-regulate, focus on work and to prepare them to return to their classroom.

Domestic kitchens

Life skills cooking is an important focus within the Skills for Life department. Our curriculum enables students to develop their home cooking skills, using our two domestic kitchens. Our kitchens are equipped with wheelchair accessible equipment, such as rise and fall sinks and hobs.

Garden

We have several outside spaces that students can access. Our garden offers opportunities to learn and develop gardening skills through our curriculum, as well as offering a calm space to relax and socialise with peers.

Students within our Skills for Life department also have access to the following facilities:
