Information for parents and guardians
Support for parents, guardians, and carers at Totton College
Leaving school to progress into further education is a big step. We know that as a parent or guardian, your child’s education and well–being mean the world to you. That’s why we’re dedicated to making sure we offer support for parents and carers at Totton College, and that your connection with us is as strong as possible.
Parents and guardians: Our commitment to you
Open communication
You’ll receive a formal report about your child’s progress every term and will be invited to meet us face-to-face for a Parent Consultation twice a year. In between, you’ll stay up–to–date through regular progress reports. If you have concerns at any time, you can contact your child’s Progression Coach.
Student well-being
We are committed to being there every step of the way for your child, making sure their learning experience is the best it can be. In fact, we’re renowned for our student support services and were proud to win Incyte’s Excellence in Safeguarding Platinum Award.
Support for our students’ well-being comes in many forms, from progress coaching to counselling, careers guidance, and learning support. Our information sessions cover a wide range of topics, including health and fitness, drug awareness, and understanding healthy relationships.
Student finance
Some students may be eligible for bursaries or funds to support the costs of learning. Find out more about getting help with funding and financial support here.

Our shared commitment to your child’s success
We’re passionate about helping your child thrive and achieve their ambitions. To support this, we’ll work in partnership with you so they reach their full potential. There is a direct link between academic success and attendance, which is why we require all students to retain a minimum 95% attendance rate while they are studying.
The best way to achieve this and help your child to succeed in every aspect of their education, is through a close relationship between the college, students, and parents.
If you, or your child, have any concerns regarding their course or well-being or you wish to discuss a personal matter, please contact their Progression Coach or call 023 8087 4874.
