Campus and Travel Information
To support your college experience, it is important to start planning how you will travel to Totton College. Whether you walk to college, cycle, take the train, arrive on bus, or get dropped off by car, getting to Totton College has never been easier.
Walking and cycling
There are pedestrian and bicycle accesses to the college campus via Water Lane and Calmore Road. Students who cycle can use our secure bicycle spaces outside the back of the college entrance on Calmore Road. For the safety and security of your bicycle, we recommend using a good quality, robust bike D lock as all property left anywhere on site is at the owner’s risk.
Train
Totton train station is a short walk away from Totton College, with regular trains running to and from Southampton Central and the New Forest. Students can apply for a railcard to help with travel costs.
A 16 – 17 Saver Railcard currently approximately costs £30 for one year or until you turn 18 and will save you 50% off most rail fares and can be used during peak periods. Click here for more information. (subject to Railcard specific charges).
A 16 – 25 Railcard currently approximately costs £30 for one year and will save you up to 1/3 on a wide range of tickets, including all Standard and First-Class Advance fares. Be aware that some discounts are not always available on all services during peak periods. Click here for more information. (subject to Railcard specific charges).
Bus
The number 11 Bluestar bus stops just outside Totton College and the number 12 Bluestar stops near our Motor Vehicle centre in Calmore Industrial Estate, making travel to college by bus simple to do.
Totton College students can buy discounted termly bus tickets via their Bluestar App – you need to complete a one-off verification process within the app then you will be ready to travel. Make sure you select the ticket for the correct fare zone depending on where you start and end your journey each day. Click here for more information.
Car/Motorcycle
The Totton College Campus is accessible via the M27, off junction 2, joining the Totton Western bypass – A326.
We have limited spaces for student parking by car in the Water Lane car park and motorcycles in the Calmore Road car park. Students who park on campus must complete a student parking form; this will provide details on where to park. We request that parents/ guardians dropping off non-SEND students, to do so by our main reception entrance on Water Lane.
Arranged Transport
Unlike school, all post-16 SEND transport is arranged between the parent/carer and the Local Education Authority, we recommend applying as soon as possible. Click here for more information. Our support staff will meet students from their transport every morning from 8:30am. Please use our Calmore Road entrance for drop-off. (postcode: SO40 8GN).
