Our Independence and Work Entry Level 3 course is designed for students to further develop their independence skills and also start to look at work skills, such as team work to help prepare them for adulthood.

Students will focus on enhancing their life skills, communication skills and start to explore practical work skills. They will have opportunities to take part in enterprise projects within the college.

For students who want to work independent living and keen to learn the essential employability and work skills.

How you will be assessed

You will be assessed through a combination of portfolio evidence, practical tasks and statements from teachers.

 

How to apply

Skills for Life is a dedicated SEND specialist department for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Our Skills for Life team supports learners throughout their academic journey, preparing them for adulthood, employment and/or independent living.

Our courses are suitable for students with an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP).

Courses are discussed during the application and enrolment process and are progression routes are reviewed as part of the annual review process each year. When deciding on the right course for the student, we consider the students’ prior qualifications and courses, academic ability, and social skills.

Funding and bursaries

Students if you’re aged over 19 you may be eligible for free tuition depending on the course you want to study, your existing qualifications and your financial circumstances. For more information email info@totton.ac.uk or call 023 8087 4874.

Advanced Learner Loans are available for students who are aged 19 or over. Repayments do not begin until the course is completed and you are earning £25,000 or over.
