Entry requirements
At least four GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above including English and Maths, and an NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification or equivalent industry experience.
What will I learn?
You’ll study a range of units alongside anatomy and physiology, and the science behind each technical service.
You’ll also gain knowledge and experience of:
Communication and team-building skills involved in working with colleagues and ways of forming good relationships
Promotion and selling products and services to clients, including giving advice on services and products and optimising increased revenue. This includes organising promotional events and may include opportunities to participate in activities not included on your timetable.
Work Experience
You’ll take part in 60 hours’ work experience during the year in a relevant setting.
Modules
Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
Provide body electrical treatments
Provide facial electrical treatments
Provide body massage treatments
Provide Indian head massage
Provide stone therapy treatments
*You may also be able to study electrical epilation treatments
Assessment
You will be assessed through a combination of practical tasks, knowledge and understanding tests, online exams and oral questioning. Salon hours and self-directed study will also need to be completed outside of your teaching timetable.
Enrichment Opportunities
Extra-curricular activities and community projects are included, and participation is mandatory for some (a cost may apply for additional professional certifications), as well as a trip to the national beauty exhibition in London.
You’re encouraged to take part in college extra-curricular activities and exercise and you will be required to participate in weekly health and wellness classes that incorporate various forms of exercise and training, as well as mindfulness and relaxation techniques.
Career and Progression
You can progress to university and continue to develop your skills. If you’d rather start your career, this internationally-recognised qualification will allow you to work in salons and spas, as well as on cruise ships or contracts in the Caribbean, Canada, UAE and Europe.

Advanced Learner Loans are available for students who are aged 19 or over. Repayments do not begin until the course is completed and you are earning £25,000 or over.
