Entry requirements
A keen interest in art and design is essential. At least three GCSEs at grade 3 or 2 (grade D or E), or a Merit or Distinction at BTEC Level 1.
What will I learn?
This broad course covers areas such as 2D painting, drawing, print, illustration, photography and 3D sculpture.
Work Experience
You’ll be expected to do two block of one week’s work experience, and can request extra days.

Developing ideas in response to an art and design brief
Realising art and design ideas
Exploring photography
Exploring graphic design and illustration
Assessment
You’ll be assessed through projects and coursework. There are no examinations
Enrichment Opportunities
You’ll have the opportunity to take part in a residential trip to London, as well as visits to local galleries and exhibitions.
Career and Progression
This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills for entry into employment and further training. It will also mean you can go on to higher level qualifications such as the OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Art and Design. It’s a great starting point for careers in art, design, photography and illustration.
Funding and bursaries

Advanced Learner Loans are available for students who are aged 19 or over. Repayments do not begin until the course is completed and you are earning £25,000 or over.
