About our Skills for Life courses
Tailored courses to prepare you for work and life
The Skills for Life (SFL) department provides an inclusive curriculum that has a focus on preparing students for adulthood, whether that is going into some form of employment or preparing them for independent/supported living. Skills for Life supports a wide variety of students, over 95% of our students have an EHCP.
Within Skills for Life, there are two hubs which have a focus on the areas outlined below.
Skills for Life Foundation Hub (Entry 1 – Entry 3) |
A range of courses focusing on life, independence, and social skills. Students also work towards preparation for adulthood and are supported to explore their next steps.
Students are supported throughout the whole college day, including breaks and lunch times. |
Skills for Life Vocational Hub
(Entry 3 – Level 1) |
Courses within the Vocational Hub focus on equipping students with the fundamental knowledge, skills and qualities needed to work towards gaining employment, as well as developing life skills and social skills. There is a Vocational Studies Social Space that can be accessed at break time and lunchtime, with LSAs on duty. More confident students will be encouraged to access other parts of the College. |
Courses within Skills for Life
Our courses range from Entry Level 1 up to Level 1; they consist of core social, life, and work skills, as well as providing enrichment sessions in vocational subjects such as Hospitality, Horticulture, Creative Media, Art and Photography and many more.

The department prides itself on the following:
- Small class sizes
- Large LSA support team
