Nia Frettingham, a Level 3 Music and Music Production student, has been learning various music skills and techniques as well as setting up and performing at gigs as part of her course. Nia has also been learning valuable skills which will be useful in Nia’s future in the music industry.

Nia Frettingham added:

I have had the chance to explore various music styles, genres, and cultures, as part of my course. Being part of ensembles has helped boost my musical abilities and learn valuable leadership skills which will be useful for my future in the music industry. Setting up and performing at gigs has been an essential part of my journey toward becoming a musician as well.

I really enjoy exploring different music styles and techniques on the guitar and drums.

Overcoming my stage fright has been a real achievement for me. I always wanted to be a performer but was always too scared but with the encouragement from my progress coaches, I was able to achieve this. I also found out I have dyslexia, but I didn’t let that hold me back.

When you come to Totton College, don’t be afraid to make mistakes and try new things because stepping out of your comfort zone is when all the opportunities show up.

I would like to go to university as this has always been my goal and Totton College has helped me achieve this. I am holding an offer from the Academy of Contemporary Music, Guildford to study BA (Hons) Integrated master’s in music performance and guitar.”
