This is a one-year programme offered to suitable existing students who are capable of gaining Entry 3 or level 1 qualifications. It’s designed to help you develop work skills in customer service. You’ll have the opportunity to work in placements both internally and externally.
You’ll get three days teaching until your work placement starts. Once it starts, you’ll get one day of study and two days at your work placement, until eventually doing three full days’ work placement with a job coach to support both you and the employer.
Entry requirements
As well as having a strong desire to get a job and move into paid employment, students will need to have an Education, Health and Care plan, and relevant skills at Entry 3.

Work Experience
Work Experience is on-going throughout the year, with up to two days per week expected in a work placement. You’ll be placed in an area of choice for your work experience with a job coach to support you until you have settled into the placement.

Learn about the skills that are most useful in helping you to work effectively as part of a team
Communication:
We all need to communicate with other people. We need to tell other people a wide range of things, including our needs, wishes and feelings
Planning and organising:
Having the ability to plan and organise is a skill many recruiters consider essential. Many adverts will simply ask for someone who can “plan and prioritise” their workload

Functional skills maths
Assessment
Multiple choice exam papers, portfolio and work placement assessments and observations.
Enrichment Opportunities
You’ll take part in a wide range of activities such as cooking and art. You’ll also be able to take part in other activities, both on and off the college site, such as sports, trips and visits.
Career and Progression
You’ll be able to go into paid employment.
Funding and bursaries

Advanced Learner Loans are available for students who are aged 19 or over. Repayments do not begin until the course is completed and you are earning £25,000 or over.
