Totton College works with a variety of employers across a number of sectors and we want to ensure we are doing our best to support them and their businesses during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
Following the latest government guidance we have created a guide to assist employers of apprentices to navigate the job retention scheme and to show how they can support apprentices on furlough to continue working towards the completion of their apprenticeship.
Employers who are looking to, or who have, placed employees including apprentices on furlough can view this guide. It covers information about the scheme, ways you can access it, how to ensure apprentices can continue with their apprenticeship while on furlough and other businesses owners’ frequently asked questions.
Despite the current circumstances our apprentices continue to make excellent progress on their courses and have adapted well to digital and remote delivery of their training. Across all cohorts, apprentices have been enjoying online workshops, using online applications such as Zoom and Google Classroom.
Totton College can also support businesses by upskilling staff who may be furloughed, enrolling them to gain qualifications that will fill skills gaps in the workforce when they return.
If you would like to access training while furloughed, you can speak to the apprenticeships team by emailing apprenticeships@totton.ac.uk.
